The 2016 NFL champion was decided by the 51st Super Bowl played on the 5th of February 2017. The Super Bowl is an annual match between the champions of the American Football Conference champions and the National Football Conference champions. Super Bowl 51 is already a legendary match after the New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons with 34-28 after overcoming a 25 point deficit when they trailed with 28-3 just before the end of the 3rd quarter. It was the first Super Bowl final to be played in an overtime period as the standing was 28-28 after the 4th quarter. Tom Brady was named MVP for a record fourth time during the Patriot's ninth Super Bowl appearance.
